i. Roger Easton holds a full scale reproduction of Satellite Vanguard I, which he helped engineer, at his home in Canaan, N.H. Easton was recently elected to the National Inventors Hall of Fame for his developments with the Timation system, which is the basis for Global Positioning System (GPS).
ii. Easton's wife, Barbara, right, combs his hair inside their home. Easton grew up in Craftsbury, Vt., and moved to Canaan after he retired from the National Research Laboratory in 1980. Easton turned the next day.
