Over break, my very good friend, Hughie, and his wife, Sumi, celebrated their marriage. Both Japanese nationals, they romantically wedded at Tokyo City Hall. Last week, they came to San Francisco so their American buddies could join the party, too. As my gift to Hughie and Sumi, I offered to take portraits so at least they can have a decent photograph to commemorate the occasion. Hughie has been an awesome friend since I first met him nearly 16 years ago. He has been there for the good, the bad and the fun. I am glad Sumi is in for the ride!

A few other pictures I liked from the shoot... plus some from the celebration dinner and the ensuing after party.

Pretty sunsets. Name that bridge!

Parkway's Last Dance. The Parkway Theater, 1997-2009.

The Parkway Theater in Oakland, California, closed its doors on Sunday, March 22. For 12 years, the Parkway offered independent movies and served beer, wine and pizza in a "lounge" setting. The Parkway also served as an icon for an otherwise quiet neighborhood just east of Lake Merritt. Its owners, Speakeasy Theaters, ended their run with a performance by the band Carne Crude and a screening of the film Que Viva La Lucha, a documentary about Lucha Libre wrestlers in Tijuana.

A killer sunset forced me out of my car.
