r.i.p. russell means.
Russell Means, former American Indian Movement activist, passed away last week at his ranch in Porcupine, S.D. Means helped lead the 1973 uprising at Wounded Knee, ran as a Libertarian for U.S. president in 1988 and appeared in the film "The Last of the Mohicans." His honoring service included a five mile horse ride to Little Wound High School in Kyle, S.D.

"Their neighbor's garage and home was completely engulfed in flames shortly before 3 a.m. Felix Castillo woke up first in the small house, alerting his wife, Jean, two daughters and a granddaughter. They all exited safely but watched as their home's siding melted and eventually started on fire itself."

Staff Sergeant Michael Beck plays with his daughter, Tehya, following the Army National Guard 189th Aviation Regiment activation ceremony at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City. "I am going to miss watching them grow and become themselves," Beck said.

Bob Morgan sits in his kitchen. Morgan was a bus driver for the Rapid City school district. He was involved in a head-on collision with a truck on February 8, 2010. Although Morgan was not at-fault for the accident, the school district fired him once his sick leave ran out.
