The Nemo Outhouse Races took place last week. For the 5th straight year, the winning team was a group of teachers from the reservations. This time their theme was a takeoff of the Hunger Games and I they represented their district well!

small town soap box derby.

I went down to Wasta, S.D., to photograph the town for a monthly series the paper does called Hometowns. When I visited the Wasta Bar, I knew I had to return a few days later to cover the fourth annual soap box derby. Glad I went back.

weird scenic.

I stopped by Scenic, S.D., earlier this week. It's a ghost town east of Rapid City and there is some crazy "found art" inside the abandoned homes there.
