I spent a day with Fr. Ronald Torres on the day he was ordained. Torres officially became a priest at the Cathedral of Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento. He then returned to Fairfield to lead mass at the church he grew up in, the church of Holy Spirit. There, Torres sat in the same seat he sat in as a child and individually blessed everyone after the mass, including a former co-worker at Walmart.

graduating through adversity.
Portraits of Corey Rosario, top, and Price Wheeler. Rosario had brain surgery to remove a tumor and Wheeler, wearing a graduation gown signed by his classmates, battled leukemia.
“The first time I succeeded in running a lap, it felt like I had run three miles,” Rosario said.
“At first, I didn’t know if I would graduate. I was able to get my grades back up, though,” Wheeler said. “I wasn’t used to being around students. This year is the first year I’ve had more friends.”

flying old school.
I had a great time flying in the B-24 Bomber. Especially sharing the plane with World War II veteran and former B-24 Bomber pilot Bruce Sooy and Enedina Guerrero, 16, who flew in an airplane for the first time.
